HEADLINE: Wedding Client Timeline

Wedding Client Timeline

What follows is a rough timeline for wedding clients, from soup to nuts. I say 'rough timeline' because while I've attempted to build in enough time to account for any problems that can crop up, there's always the chance that something will happen to cause the schedule to be off a little here or there. So, please see this as a good, but rough, time estimate that can help you to understand when things will happen or will be needed from you. Of course, feel free to contact me to discuss if you have any questions or concerns.

Before the Wedding

As you're selecting your wedding photographer, contact me and we'll meet to get to know each other a little, discuss your wedding day and go over coverage options. I'll also give you a copy of the contract at this time and we can go over the terms and I can answer any questions you may have.

Then, fill out, sign and mail the contract to me with the reservation fee/first payment. At this point, your wedding date is locked-in.

Several months before your wedding, we'll shoot your engagement session.

A few weeks before your wedding, I'll email you a wedding day information form to fill out. This will give me all of the nitty-gritty details of the day.

Two weeks before the wedding day, the remaining balance of the wedding contract is due.

The Day of the Wedding:

Your wedding day! All you need to do is enjoy it--I'll be there capturing the emotions and moments in photos that will help you to remember it for the rest of your lives!

After the Wedding:

A week or two after your wedding, I'll post a blog entry with a few of my favorite photos from the day.

If you went with the photo booth (it's awesome! Get it! :-) ), those photos will get their own blog entry and I will upload them to your online gallery within that same week or two.

By 3-4 weeks after the wedding, I'll upload all of the proofs to your online gallery. Your gallery will be online for 45 days. Feel free to download any of the proofs from the online gallery or the blog entry to post on your blog, Facebook, etc. If there's one or two in particular that you'd like to use for thank-you notes, let me know and I'll touch it up and email you the high-resolution file.

If you've ordered an album or book, the initial design will be ready 4-6 weeks after the wedding. I'll email you with instructions on how to review it online. Check it out and get back quickly with any changes you'd like to have made. Delays in getting your desired changes back to me can cause further delays in the rest of this timeline.

Once I receive your desired changes, I'll update the album design and ask you to review it for final approval. After I get your final approval, I'll order the album. Final delivery will usually be between 4 and 8 weeks after ordering.

If you've ordered the DVD of high-resolution proofs, I'll send it to you with the album or when the online gallery closes. The final touched-up version of any photos that I've edited for the blog post, album or prints ordered from the gallery will be included on the DVD.

Happily Ever After:

All that's left is for the two of you to live a long and happy life together, and enjoy your wedding photos!

...of course, if you wanted to let your soon-to-be-married friends know about me, that would be cool, too. :-)
