Yikes. I only made it two weeks with my
plan for a regular series of wedding blog roundup posts. Oh well, I guess it's becoming a
semi-regular series

.
For this entry, I'm just going to focus on the following article:
Finding a Photographer that Fits your Style (on the
MomentVille blog)
This is a good article that lays out several important points to look for in your wedding photographer. It starts out by suggesting you check out various photographers' websites and blogs. Since you're reading this here on my blog, you've obviously figured this one out, so I'll just move along.
The rest of the points in the article are all good points: the temptation to ask a friend or relative shoot your wedding, the myriad products offered by photographers, and a few questions to ask your photographer as a background check. These are all important subjects and I recommend that you check out the article for them.
But, the most important point in the article is the one with the heading "Chemistry:"
It really is all about chemistry. [...] Your wedding day should be fun and relaxing, if your photographer doesn’t “click†with you it will only create stress. After booking your photographer you should feel confident that they are reliable, trustworthy, and can deliver the photos you expect.
I couldn't agree with this more. After the quality of the photography, the most important thing is that you are comfortable with your photographer and that your photographer is comfortable with you. If you are uncomfortable or don't get along well with your photographer, your photos will suffer. On the other hand, if you and your photographer really hit it off and get along, you're going to be much more relaxed and trusting that the photos are going to be great, and that they'll really capture the essence of your wedding day.
I like to meet with all of my potential clients to make sure that we click. I'm not the perfect match for every couple out there (no one is), and I'm cool with that. For example, I'm a pretty relaxed photographer and I try not to interfere with the events of the day too much. For some couples, that's exactly what they're looking for; others may want a photographer who will take charge and make sure that everything happens on schedule. Neither style is 'better' or 'worse' than the other, just different. When I meet with clients, I try to figure out what they're looking for in a photographer, and if my style and personality will be a good fit with them. If so, great! If not, that's ok, too.
Another great way to get to know your photographer better is through your
engagement session. E-sessions give you the opportunity to spend some time with your photographer (and your fiance!

) and see how your photographer works. You'll also get some great photos that will help to reinforce your trust in your photographer.
Thanks for reading, and be sure to check out the rest of the article. Like I said, the other points are all good, too, but it really is all about the chemistry.
